Sorry that it's been a hot minute since the last update but we've been so busy having fun that finding a computer is usually the last of our concerns. So the skinny is that we rode to New Belgium Brewery in Ft Collins,CO. Great beer, good friends, and a city where everyone rides but no one is racing.
From there we kept climbing to 7200ft in Laramie, WY. Had a fun time there in the small city and then went camping at Wedawou, a place that is so different from anything I've ever seen before. It's a park that has giant mounds of boulders that you climb up to to get an immaculate view of everything around. On top of the mounds there was a tiny pond that was it own little ecosystem with translucent shrimps and little brown water bugs. What blew my mind was how this pond survives the harsh winters at 9000 ft.
In Laramie we decided that time was at a premium so we rented a car and drove to Portland.
There is so much for a biker to do in this city because everyone makes a big effort to build the community. Every Sunday night is the ZooBomb which is where 75 people ride the max train to the zoo which is at the highest point in the city and then a 10:30 everybody hops on their 12" huffys retrofitted with drop bars and polo seats and then bombs the downhill run at 45mph! Most people wear full face helmets which is good because I heard someone behind me slide into a car!!! Then comes Monday Funday which is where 200-300 cycle people come out to this park and play kickball, dodge ball and drink. I can't even begin to describe how amazing it was to play with a bunch a bikers I've never met who all insisted on treating us like old friends. Portland has certainly stolen my heart as the gem city on this trip.
But now we mush onward and finally begin riding south. We will be on the coast before nightfall! Oh and we picked up another member for our ride to San francisco...jean luc.
Stay chill,
Chase
